Our 4 Hole Flutes are from a little different time period. They represent some of the oldest types of Native American Flutes and still play like many of the newer ones! They are minor pentatonic as our others are, however to play the full scale the fingerings are a little different. All holes covered is of course the lowest note, then uncovering from bottom to top will play the scale, and finally starting back with all holes covered and blowing faster will start the additional 2 or 3 notes of the next octave. So they even play the same amount of notes as other 5 hole and 6 hole Native American Flutes! (How cool is that!) Our 4 Hole Flutes are offered in Poplar and in the keys of High B and Mid A. With just a little practice these are some of the funnest instruments to play! This type of flute is a great choice for thost with limited mobility or other difficulties which would impair the use of too many fingurings. In an effort to keep everything natural, we offer a sunflower oil and beeswax finish on our flutes (more about our finish on our "INFO" page) A simple block is included and custom totems can be ordered for these! Each include playing instructions and free domestic shipping within the USA and its territories as well as super inexpensive global shipping. See our shipping page for more info.

Native American 4 Hole Flutes
4 Hole Flutes have been around for thousands of years and represent some of the oldest types of flutes of the Americas! It takes a little practice to learn "how much" air to use to play the couple of notes in the upper octave, however they sound amazing! Both types we offer are coated in our natural oil and require regular oiling/waxing to protect and maintain them, so don't forget to add a container of our Imitation Bear Fat/Flute Wax to help care for your flute and a flute bag to protect it from the elements! Also, check out our Info page for sound samples, fingering charts and other helpful information!
