These are the most Amazing Native American Drone Flutes that we have ever seen, made or had the opportunity to play! Today, these are becomming a wonderful addition to Native AMerican Flute Players around the world! They have been created using an ages old system called the Circle of Fourths and the Circle of Fifths. There is one model available with the main chamber playing the first 4 notes of the minor pentatonic scale of F#, accompanied by its "perfect 4th" of B minor pentatonic. The other model made similarly with E minor pentatonic and B minor pentatonic which are "perfect 5ths". What this means is that each of these flutes make a wonderful array of harmonies with themselves! The sound is similar to Gregorian Chant and just about any music of that time period, hence many people nickname these drones "Aztec or Mayan Temple Flutes". Both are made of Western Cedar, the 5th Drones are the larger of the two. See the chart of the notes for each flute for reference. They can also be tuned like other Native American Flutes, to 432hz, 528hz and come concert tuned to 440hz unless otherwise requested, all at no extra charge! Each include playing instructions and free domestic shipping within the USA and its territories as well as super inexpensive global shipping. See our shipping page for more info. Check out our sound samples of each to determine which is right for you! 4th Drone $275 5th Drone $375
Special Aztec or Mayan Temple Drone Flutes
There were a few historical examples of Native American Drone Flutes that have been discovered. The most well know were perhaps in the Calima Cultrure of Central America who made the 4 hole drones with 4 fingerings on each side! These are perhaps the easiest version most similar to those originals to play! In an effort to keep everything natural, we offer a sunflower oil and beeswax finish on our flutes (more about our finish on our "INFO" page).Don't forget to add a container of our Imitation Bear Fat/Flute Wax to care for your flute and a flute bag to help protect it from the elements! Also, check out our Info page for sound samples, fingering charts and other helpful information!
