Explore rich, layered harmonies with Blue Bear Flutes’ Aztec, Mayan and Olmec Temple Drone Flutes. These Native American style flutes use two playing chambers to create harmony within one instrument. Choose perfect-fourth, perfect-fifth or self-harmonizing High D voices.

Choose your Type/Tone

Olmec — High D Harmonic Drone: The smallest of the three and a compact option for a backpack. One chamber plays the lower four notes of the High D scale; the other plays its upper three notes, creating self-harmony.

Mayan — Fourth Drone: The middle-sized model pairs F-sharp minor pentatonic with B minor pentatonic, a perfect-fourth relationship. The chambers play F-sharp, A, B, C-sharp and B, D, E, F-sharp, as shown in the note chart.

Aztec — Fifth Drone: The largest model pairs E minor pentatonic with B minor pentatonic, a perfect-fifth relationship. The chambers play E, G, A, B and B, D, E, F-sharp.

Hear the difference before choosing

The layered voices can have a chant-like quality. Watch and hear all three temple drone flutes in this demonstration, then compare the sound and finger reach that suit you. Use the Type/Tone dropdown to choose one model and see its current price before adding it to your cart.
