Blue Bear Modern Series 6-Note Minor Pentatonic Pan Flutes

These Blue Bear Modern Series pan flutes bring together long-standing design experience with a format I’ve wanted to offer for many years. I've made pan flutes since I was 15 years old! Built from my original concepts and tuned to work alongside Native American style flutes, these instruments make it easy to explore simple, expressive melodies in a compact form.

Each pan flute features a 6-note minor pentatonic scale (5-notes + octave note), allowing for intuitive, musical playing without the need for complex fingering. Because they follow the same tonal language as Native American style flutes, they blend naturally when played together.

Key of A minor (Am)
Key of B minor (Bm)

Both versions are small enough to fit comfortably in your pocket, making them ideal for travel, casual playing, or spontaneous moments of creativity.

Each instrument is produced in an Oak Wood color, offering a natural, understated appearance.

The Modern Series makes it possible to offer these designs consistently—something that would be difficult to produce by hand at scale—while preserving the musical intent behind each instrument.

Design & Playability

The 6-note layout is based on the minor pentatonic scale, one of the most natural and expressive scales in music. Each tube is tuned for smooth transitions and balanced tone, allowing players to move easily between notes.

With no finger holes required, these instruments are extremely approachable, making them suitable for beginners while still offering expressive potential for experienced players.

Tuning

Available in A minor (Am) and B minor (Bm), both tuned to 440 Hz for compatibility with other instruments, including Native American style flutes.

Care

These flutes require minimal maintenance. Simply keep them clean, dry, and stored safely when not in use. Avoid prolonged exposure to extreme heat.

Construction

These instruments are made from PETG (Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol), chosen for its durability, stability, and safety for use with breath and moisture. PETG is commonly used in food-safe and medical-related applications and offers greater heat resistance and longevity than PLA.

You may notice a subtle surface texture - this is a natural result of the seamless construction process, where the instrument is formed as a continuous piece to ensure consistency and structural integrity.
