The Modern Trend: Outsourcing Everything

In today’s market, many companies outsource production to large factories. It’s faster, cheaper, and efficient — but often comes at the cost of quality, care, and authenticity. Mass production rarely honors tradition or craftsmanship.

At Blue Bear Flutes, we believe there’s a better way. Our mission has always been to keep flute-making close, personal, and in our own hands.

Every Step, Done by Us

Each flute we make is crafted start to finish in-house:

  • Selecting and preparing the wood

  • Shaping and tuning the instrument

  • Hand-sanding, oiling, and finishing

Because we never outsource, we’re able to maintain the highest level of quality and preserve the deep connection between maker, instrument, and player. No factory production line can replicate the attention, precision, or love we pour into every instrument.

From Our Hands to Yours

When you purchase a Blue Bear flute, you can feel confident that:

  • It wasn’t mass-produced in a factory

  • It wasn’t assembled by a third-party supplier

  • It was crafted by us — backed by decades of experience and respect for the tradition

This is why so many of our customers say they feel a personal connection when they play our flutes: each one is made with care, not machines.

What About Accessories?

We do carry a few accessories such as amplifiers, flute bags, and books. These require specialized facilities — like a printing press or electronics workshop — but every design still comes from us. The heart of our business remains exactly where it began: building flutes ourselves.

Why We’ll Never Change

For us, outsourcing is not an option when it comes to instruments. True craftsmanship cannot be compromised. By keeping flute-making in-house, we honor both the tradition behind the flute and the connection between music and maker.

When you play a Blue Bear flute, you’re holding more than just an instrument — you’re holding a piece of our heart, our hands, and our history. For us, outsourcing is simply not an option when it comes to our instruments. We believe that true craftsmanship should never be compromised.
