Many players are captivated by the warm, balanced tone and classic beauty of our Old-Style Cherry 5-Hole Native American style flute. Cherry wood is known for its smooth grain, soft golden-red hue, and naturally bright tone that mellows beautifully over time. It offers a gentle, well-rounded voice — not as sharp as hardwoods like Purpleheart, yet more focused than softer woods such as cedar.
Like all of our Old-Style models, this flute features an open mouthpiece design — rather than a small blow hole, the opening is the same size as the flute’s interior. This design, inspired by traditional rivercane flutes, allows you to press your lips against the end and blow naturally, providing excellent control of tone and airflow while helping prevent the flute from “wetting out.”
Each flute includes our flat/standard block on top, and you can personalize it with a custom totem from our Totems page. Our 5-hole flutes play all the same notes as 6-hole flutes — learn more about this on our 6-Hole Flute page.
This model is offered in the key of high B (as heard in the video), and can be tuned to 432Hz or 528Hz upon request instead of the standard 440Hz. Simply leave a note with your order.
Every flute is custom-made to order, hand-finished with our exclusive natural oil-and-wax blend that enhances the Cherry’s beauty and protects the wood without the drawbacks of lacquer. For best care, use our Imitation Bear Fat or natural oils such as mineral or olive oil.
