Many players prefer the aroma and tone of our Old-Style Eastern Red Cedar 5-Hole Native American style flute over any other. I especially love playing cedar flutes because of the unique warmth and “feeling” they produce.
This flute features an open mouthpiece design — rather than a small blow hole, the opening is the same size as the flute’s interior. Similar to rivercane flutes, you simply press your lips against the end and blow. This design helps prevent the flute from “wetting out” and gives you greater control over airflow.
Each flute includes a flat/standard block on top, and you can purchase a custom totem separately from our Totems page. Our 5-hole flutes play all the same notes as 6-hole flutes (see our 6-Hole Flute page for details).
This flute is offered in the key of high B (as shown in the video), with optional tunings in 432Hz or 528Hz instead of the standard 440Hz upon request. Just leave a note with your order.
Every flute is custom made to order, hand-finished with our natural oil-and-wax blend that preserves tone without the drawbacks of lacquer. For ongoing care, use our Imitation Bear Fat or natural oils such as mineral or olive oil.
